Pool Fence Regulations Victoria
Keeping your loved ones safe and secure around your pool or spa is very important. A pool fence with proper gates will go a long way to ensure their safety. The Victorian Building Regulations 2018 has brought up several new building requirements to improve the safety of the occupants. The updated Building Regulations have been introduced for pool fencing so that all swimming pools and spas must conform to minimum safety standards. Here at Pool Compliance Victoria, we offer site advice and a pool compliance consultation service, ensuring that your pool meets the new pool fence regulations Victoria.
According To New Pool Fence Regulations Victoria:
- Your pool must have a safety barrier
- Pool fencing must be a minimum of 1.2 metres high
- Pool fencing must have self-closing and self-latching gates
- Access to pools or spas must be child-resistant
- The bottom gap should not be more than 10cm
- The gap between the vertical bars must be less than 10cm
- Other requirements relating to climbing ability of fencing and objects close to the fencing
Only when all these requirements are met, you will be able to get a pool compliance certificate.
How Can We Help You?
During our visit to your site, we will conduct a thorough assessment of your pool safety fence with your presence. You may also have a tradesperson/tradespeople and designers on site. The assessment will be conducted by one or more of our VBA Registered Building Inspectors. They will check all aspects of your pool fencing to ensure that it conforms to the minimum safety requirements introduced by the Victorian Building Regulations and the Building Code Of Australia.
While conducting the site assessment, we can answer any questions you may have on the pool fencing requirements and also offer verbal advice on the most cost-effective and aesthetic ways of erecting or reworking a barrier so that it meets the safety principles.
